With the rise of the COVID-19 Pandemic, IWS has gone through some significant changes in the last few months. Project workshops were delayed, and new COVID-19 initiatives were created. Throughout it all, IWS continues to connect remotely with all our IWS members in the MMF Regions. As well, IWS continues to plan for the eighth Annual General Assembly, location and date TBA.

    Leadership & Communication

    Our leadership training is a ground-breaking program that enables women to view leadership through the lens of communication - supporting them to develop the skills needed to be seen as strong, confident leaders.

    Family Violence and Human Trafficking Prevention

    Working together to address gender-based violence against women, IWS in partnership with the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF), the Ma-Mow-We-Tak Friendship Centre (Thompson), and the Joy Smith Foundation are creating preventive, supportive, and accessible resources and programs for Metis Women.

    Prosperity through Innovation

    IWS, in collaboration with LRI and MET, is delivering a program designed to equip Metis women with the tools they need to find meaningful employment. This 15-week program addresses systemic and institutional barriers to economic security and prosperity faced by Metis mothers, caregivers, and guardians as they attempt to enter, re-enter or remain in the workforce.
